Europe train trip - third stop Vienna

Moved onto Vienna late on the Wed for 3 nights and checked into the lively Wombat's hostel just near the main train station that had its own bar in the basement, always good for a laugh and socialising. Vienna was lovely and definately has a much bigger city feel, unfortunately the weather wasn't fantastic but did quite a few things anyway.

Europe train trip - second stop Salzburg

Trip from Paris was a long one but quite scenic with views of old towns and snow-capped mountains. I arrived in Salzburg mid afternoon on the Mon and made my way to my cosy budget hotel in one of the city's shopping/restaurant streets.

Most sights in Salzburg can be seen just by walking around although the weather was very cold!
Took in most of the town including city centre, Mirabell Gardens, Salzburg Fortress, the Sound of Music abbey, Mozart's birthplace, memorials, cemetries, buildings, a couple of other lookout spots and general street life.

Europe train trip - first stop Paris

Jumped on a Eurostar Saturday as the start of my 9 day train holiday to Austria & back. Original plan had been to continue past Paris & get an overnight train to Munich but I have fallen in love with Paris so decided to stop there for 2 nights on the way through. Stayed at a hostel in Republique area close to the international train stations & practiced my french on a few unsuspecting cafes & creperies eating croissants & french baguettes which are just fabulous!

Most of sunday afternoon & evening I rode around on the city bikes which are great - you sign up at a vending machine then get a pin number so you can just jump on any bikes, then park them again at any other city bike station.

Monday was up early for a train to Salzburg, changing in Frankfurt for an hour or so.
