Weekend in ROME
Throwing coin into Trevi Fountain for safe return to Rome
Avid blog readers! I have been to Rome, the home of pizza, pasta, gelati, sunshine, mopeds and cheap Louis Vuitton! Took a flight to Rome last Friday evening with Nic & her Mum. After a few delays with the cattle class that's Ryanair, we were off away from windy overcast London to warm Rome for the weekend. We stayed in a B&B guesthouse in the Termini area which on Fri night did look a bit dodgy but turned out to be quite a little chinatown type street the next day.
Saturday we did alot of walking around, seeing the usual sights: the Colosseum & Palentine Hill, Trevi Fountain, expensive shopping street (Prada, Gucci, Dior, etc) & the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon, Trastevere and more. Sunday was just as gorgeous and we did St. Peter's Basilica and walked around the Vatican city walls to the Sistine Chapel but it was unfortunately closed that day. Also did some shopping from street stalls and we all bought the obligatory cheap fakes of Louis Vuitton, Fendi & Gucci bags & wallets.
I flew back to London Sun night, leaving Nic & her Mum in Italy for a few more days as they enjoy a bit more of their European holiday. Immigration coming back into the UK took its usual hour and a bit so ended up getting home just before 2am. I had a wonderful time though, of course helped by the fact that I absolutely love italian food (only had pizza twice) and warm sunshine (25 degrees, I think that's about the warmest weather I've been in since leaving Oz last year). Some pics...
